Looking for your family memories with toy trains

We're looking for toy train memories and photographs
The belief that toy trains tighten the bonds among family members of different generations has been a theme of our hobby for more than a century. Manufacturers have emphasized it in their advertising, and individual hobbyists have long reminisced about enjoying their O or S gauge trains with parents and grandparents and other family members.

Classic Toy Trains would like to collect these memories. What do you remember about playing with toy trains with family members of various generations? Did you build a layout with a parent back in the postwar era? Did an older relative pass along a vintage train set to you long ago or in more recent decades? Did you give a vintage trains set to your children or grandchildren? Perhaps it was one you received long ago when you were a child.

Please share your memories, being specific about the manufacturer of the trains and anything regarding the set or locomotive at the heart of your story. Besides your name, we would like to learn the name of the area where the story took place and the name of any department stores or toy shops involved.

If you have vintage photographs of yourself as a child playing with toy trains long ago, we would enjoy seeing them and possibly publishing them in Classic Toy Trains.

Please let us hear from you in the coming weeks. We need all submissions in our offices by May 1, 2017.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Senior Editor Roger Carp at rcarp@classictoytrains.com or by calling him at 262-796-8776 ext. 253.

Thanks in advance for your help and memories.
