I'm wondering why , after taking the time and effort to put together such a beautiful re-creation of the D146 Lionel layout, you use some MTH accessories. Sort of like completely restoring a 1957 Chevy, but using newer Volkswagen tires and rims.

The 4X8 1950s layout is very inspiring. I was thrilled when I found the Lionel set I received for Christmas 1951 in the CTT Golden Years special. No doubt, millions of boys started building their first layout on the traditional 4X8 sheet of plywood. My all time favorite layout remains the one on the rear and inside rear cover of Lionel's 1957 catalog. A pity it wasn't a showroom layout. It would have fit perfectly in CTT's showroom layout special.

Lionel trains of the 50s were and still are great. Really appreciate CTT not forgetting that Christmas is still the time of year when so many families set up train gardens. As Andy Williams croons, "It's the most wonderful time of the year!"

I'm not very mechanical at all. But I tried Peter Riddle's technique for the Atlas 21st Century track "Wiring Without Soldering" article and it works! That was perfectly timed as I needed to add additional "drops" but didn't want to have to take apart my layout and track. Good ideas on Lionel contacts. I use both on my layout. Nice job, CTT! You made me look good again.
