New products from the March 2018 issue of Classic Toy Trains magazine

Two new structures, an Atlas O gondola, and more
THE LONG ARM OF THE LONG ISLAND: TrainWorld is offering two more custom-run O gauge MTH products in the colors of the Long Island RR. The no. 30-5161 bump-n-go trolley has the road number of 293. The MTH motorized unit features two crewmen that move and and an automatic bumper reverse mechanism. The unit costs $59.99. Both the trolley and motorized unit can be ordered at
HELP MOVE THE HEAVIES: Atlas O’s 52½-foot war emergency gondolas are in stores now. The cars were a wartime workaround for a shortage of cars able to carry long and heavy materials. Wood was substituted for steel wherever possible, and these were rated at a 70-ton capacity. The gondolas have scale dimensions and die-cast-metal trucks and couplers, and require O-42 or wider-diameter track. The O gauge car is available undecorated as well as in Grand Trunk Western (shown), Indiana Harbor Belt, Norfolk & Western, Pennsylvania RR, and Santa Fe liveries for $56.95 each. See your Atlas O retailer or go to for more information.
WANDER DOWN TO WALLY’S: Train Town can now have a full-service gas station with a rotating sign from Menards. The no. 279-4431 Wally’s gas station has six gas pumps with illuminated globes, two oilcan stands, two air hose stands, a few tires, trashcans, a soda machine, three uniformed employees, and, of course, our four-legged friend, Jack the German Shepherd. Front and rear signage on the O gauge structure is impressive, as is the rotating Shell sign in the circular art deco oval roof illuminated from below. A power adapter is sold separately. The structure costs $89.99 plus shipping, or opt for free shipping to your local Menards store. For more information, or to purchase, go to
CLUES ON COMMAND: TM Books & Video has released the second in its series of DVDs on modern command and control systems. Modern O Gauge Remote Control Part 2: Lionel TMCC and Legacy Advanced shows operators how to maximize their use of Lionel’s two major command-control systems. The 65-minute DVD is hosted by Bob Phillips and costs $14.99. See your hobby retailer or go to to order.
NEITHER RAIN NOR SLEET: Woodland Scenics helps Train Town’s mail and parcels get delivered with the latest Built-&-Ready building: the no. BR5864 Letters, Parcels & Post. Features on the structure include a freestanding mailbox, a stone foundation, a porch overhang, side steps, and a rear loading dock. The structure has a decorated and lighted interior made for use with the Just-Plug power system. The O scale building costs $129.99. See your Woodland Scenics retailer or go to for more information.
