Want to be a Toy Train Field Correspondent?

You might be just who we need!
Wantedgraphic_800
The team that brings you Classic Toy Trains magazine and many other products for toy train enthusiasts is looking for people to join the effort! It’s a chance to use the time you spend on your hobby in a way that will support a pastime you love.

We are looking for more Field Correspondents to collect updated information for the Greenberg Pocket Price Guides, the authoritative source that has been used by collectors for generations. If you are a dedicated toy train hobbyist familiar with current or past production of O or S gauge models, this could be the perfect fit for you.

If you sign up as a Field Correspondent, you will help make the listings in our guides more complete and the values more accurate.

You could be a PPG Field Correspondent if you ….

• Attend one or more toy train shows each year. These events include but are not limited to public shows, local or regional meets organized by train clubs or collecting groups, and annual conventions of the main collecting and operating associations.
• Collect information about current sales as seen at or reported from toy train shows, auctions, or online sources (including but not limited to eBay).

What it involves
• Typically, Field Correspondents sign up for either the Lionel price guide (annual) or the American Flyer price guide (every other year).
• Correspondents collect information about pricing from online sites, auctions, shows, and events.
• Every spring (for the Lionel price guide) or every other spring (for American Flyer), Correspondents submit their collected information to us.
• You can submit your information using our easy online tool, or by mail. You decide!

What you get
• You’ll be publicly acknowledged in the book as a Correspondent.
• You’ll get a free copy of the price guide you’ve helped with PLUS a special gift.
• You’ll get paid. Why not add a little extra to your hobby budget while doing what you love?
• You’ll be supporting your hobby by keeping collectors active, informed, and up to date.
• You’ll be part of something the toy train community looks forward to each year!

Interested? Here’s what to do
• Send an email to Associate Editor Eric White: ewhite@kalmbach.com
• In your email, tell Eric why you’re interested, and let him know if you have any questions.
• We’ll take it from there! If you are accepted as a Correspondent, we’ll follow up some time in October to get you started.
